1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[personal profile] snarkasaurus  gave me Y, A and J.
:D

Y (I've 42 Y songs)
1. Yellow Birds and Coal Mines - The Scene Aesthetic
This is possibly the only song that I've ever found on last.fm and really truly love. Its a sweet little acoustic thing, with bonus points for alternating vocals. There's a bit of that aaaaaalmost whiny emo-voice but it work.

2. You're It - Halloween, Alaska
This is one of the hottest songs I own. Pretty much all of Halloween, Alaska's music fits under that title though. The pacing of the song, along with the lyrics, is just good

3. Your Touch - The Black Keys
Hah, so, I discovered Halloween, Alaska through last year's BBB and if anyone dl'd the mix for I Have Been all Things Unholy (which I'm sure plenty of you did) should recognize this song (that mix was seriously amazing, I'll upload it if anyone wants it). It makes me want to bust out my secret Sassy Dance Moves

4. Your Honor - Regina Spektor
I KISSED YOUR LIPS AND I TASTED BLOOD DUHNUHNUHNUHDUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUHNUH. If you seriously think of Regina Spektor as just the chick who plays pretty songs on the piano you need to get this song, its really really amusing, and sweet.

5. You are so Last Summer - Taking Back Sunday
It was at this song that I noticed some of the wrist slashing, stains on your knees patterns in my music. Not sure what to do with that. The Long Island scene is fucking epic with their dramatics (see: Seven times Seventy) and this song is no different. (The truth, is you could slit my throat, and with my one last gasping breath I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt)

A (I've 118 A songs)

1. Absinthe Party at the Fly Honey Warehouse - Minus the Bear
Let's get some beadcore up in this mix! Ok, sorry. So, Minus the Bear is awesome and are the reason why I continue to kill all of my Bad Ass cred with my Indie cred. My life, so hard. This song is about going to Europe and Getting Some Culture. I'm sure the title is a reference that I don't quite get, but it doesn't matter because Minus The Bear is all ~sweet indie guitar riffs and lyrics~ and I'm all ~swoon~ and it's cool.

2. Alive with the Glory of Love - Say Anything
Fun fact: I fucking hate Wow, I Can Get Sexual, Too. This is the song that made me love Say Anything. It's about love during the Holocaust. No, seriously. It's a goregous story if you listen to the lyrics, and if you don't want the Serious Love Story you can just bop around to the music which is fucking happy and bouncey, also contains the title Ms. Black Eyeliner.

3. All is Full of Love - Death Cab for Cutie
Did you know that this is the cover of a Bjork song? I didn't. I like this version better. Listen to the drums on this song. Listen to the rest obviously, but really pay attention to the drums. nomnom. This song makes me think of waking up on a summer morning when everythings still sort of dim and cool and there's dew on the ground and the air is cold.

4. A Boy Brushed Red...Living in Black and White - Underoath
Yeah, I'm cheating, but for a good reason! When I was in the 8th grade a friend made a CD for me. The first bit was From Under the Cork Tree, making that the second rock CD that I'd ever gotten knowing that I was in fact about to get Rock. She also added some extra songs on the end of the CD (one of them being Billy Talent, who were the second openers for my first rock concert. coincidences~) one of the others was this. This was my first screaming song. I didn't like it very much. I also spent the next, oh, 4 years thinking this was Hawthorne Heights. Then, recently I was dl'ing some Underoath and noticed that the vocals sounded
very familiar. At which point I discovered that actually this was the song she'd given me. Uhm, as far as the song? It's Underoath. Very scream-y. If you don't know that Underoath is a Christian band you'll probably think its about rape (I did.) It's actually about premarital sex. If it was good enough for me to still like it when I thought it was about rape, well, you can guess how good it is.

5. Anna Molly - Incubus
Yeah, they're saying Anna Molly, not anamoly. Anna Molly is a srsbznzz song, you'll realize this even more when you see the video, in which Brandon Boyd prooobably doesn't have a shirt on. No, I'm sorry I love Incubus but they're fucking ridiculous. This song is very 90's-early 2000 to me. I personally belive that that was the most recent Best Time for Music so, yeah. Also its really fun to sing along with once you learn the lyrics. Now you should go and watch every Incubus video, and count how many times you see Shirtless! Brandon Boyd

J - I only have 28 J songs. Huh.

1. Jane Says - Jane's Addiction
I...really like this song? I heard it during the summer on...some internet radio station, idk. It also makes me think of The 90s

2. Jezebel - Iron & Wine
This is possibly my favorite Iron & Wine song. And that's saying something because I really truly love Iron & Wine (oh look there goes my Bad Ass cred dropping again :p) Its not particuarly special as far as an Iron & Wine song goes, but something about it makes my heart go clenchy and my eyes mist a little.

3. Joi - Kaki King
OH DID YOU THINK I'D SOMEHOW NOT GET KAKI KING IN HERE?! I. Love. Kaki King. I think her guitar skills amazing and I think her music makes me feel really warm and happy and glowy without words and I think that if you ever want to try strictly instrumental music YOU SHOULD TRY HER

4. John J. Audubon - Anathallo
Anathallo is possibly The Indiest Music I have (yeah, I...keep track of things like that, can't help it). I've never even heard Jesus Mary Chain or whatever that band is called and I think of them when I hear Anathallo. They're happy and a little atmospheric and male-female vocals make me happy, and they have quite a bit of that and honestly you should get all of Canopy Glow because its an amazing album.

5. Just Like Heaven - AFI (The Cure Cover)
I have three versions of this song, the original, the Taking Back Sunday version and this one. And of them all, this one feels the most 80s to me. I'm pretty sure that has to do with Davey Havok's existence.

(Because I know you're dying to know,
Z, X and Q are tied for least songs with 3 each and  S has the most wih 264 songs. I know this because I have a playlist. For each letter.)

Gimmie a stinkin' letter or two or three!
*lols at your Incubus commentary*
*throws a big frumpy turtle-neck sweater at Brandon Boyd*
Also...do you actually like Jane's Addiction? In my never-ending quest to find concert buddies, I am currently needing people for City Stages who don't mind staying with me while I squeal at Jane's Addiction and Styx...plus anyone else said people want to see, of course. <3333

And no, I like Jane Says. Unless you can find away for me to go with you without spending money, I probably can't be your squeal buddy :(

Hi! I tried to click on a link to your story Your love is going to drown and it said I couldn't read it. I'm guessing it's because you have it f-locked or something. Any chance of friending me back so I can read it?
